Principle of Privacy in Islamic Architectural Design Context: A Systematic Literature Review

Privacy has a significant role in formulating the elements of traditional Islamic architecture due to its critical importance law. However, birth modern and contemporary brought by trends rapid urbanization created diminishing sense privacy comfort building users. Besides, there is lack understanding body knowledge about from an architectural perspective. Therefore, present study aims investigate design that promote provide conceptual definition The methodology used systematic literature review English language published two electronic databases (Scopus ScienceDirect), using MeSH terms, keywords, inclusion exclusion criteria. results this confirm principle plays consideration, especially residential areas. definitions classify as either sociophysical aspect (physical, social, psychological) or sensory (visual, acoustic olfactory). Importantly, key for promoting are central courtyard, exterior facade, Mashrabiya, floor plans spatial arrangement, subtle approaches, transitional elements, neighbourhood urban configuration. findings contribute guideline planners architects understand better concept enhance functional context respects user's comfort.
